About Us

People Helping People was founded in 1996 by Linda Stevenson.

Linda began the work of helping others working out of her home. As she worked to meet the needs of the community, the organization quickly outgrew the space she had available. At that point, People Helping People moved to working out of storage facilities. Over the years People Helping People has become known as an invaluable source for those in the Rio Rancho area. We frequently receive referrals of those in need from the local police, churches and other community organizations.

Linda has spent countless hours working with domestic violence shelters, the VA, and anyone who has a physical need in the area of Food, Clothing, Furniture and Housewares. Over the years, People Helping People has contributed and lent a hand to thousands of individuals, families and groups in the local community.

We rely on the generosity of others to provide this help. Our volunteers have been indispensable in helping to make People Helping People the resource it is today. Frequently featured in articles from the local paper, People Helping People continues to work lending a helping hand to those in need through several outreach programs: Food Distribution, Clothing Distribution, Furniture and Housewares distribution, Adopt a family Christmas program, and our newest outreach Gram & Gramps.
